I strongly dislike big bulky packaging. I ripped into it like I did with the first Urban Decay Box of Shadows. This took me approximately 1 hour.

I took out the insert of a Stila palette and then put in strips of magnet inside for the eyeshadows to stick to.

  • Awesome! What palette is that that you put all of the shadows in?

  • It's a Stila palette. I took out the insert and put strips of magnet on the bottom.

  • What type of palette do you put these in when you've removed them? I have both Vols 1 and 2, and I'd like to do the same with mine. It's difficult to get inspired when your colors are in different places. Thanks for this video!

  • Thanks for the video, I started depotting a small urban decay pallette but the pans were bending so I stopped but I'll try again after seeing this.

  • I would be so scared to shatter the pans of eyeshadow and make a big mess!

  • Wow, I didn't realize how time consuming it would be. I have a few urban decay palettes that I'd like to depot as well. Thanks for the Video!

  • I may be doing this with all 3 of my book of shadows once i get a palette for them. I will probably keep the bit with the mirror just because it looks nice.

  • thanks for this vid. i have vol II, alice, and nyc. i love the look of the packaging, but it is bulky to travel with. when i get tired of the bulk, i'll depot them. seems a shame to destroy the box, but a necessity if i want to easily travel with these. thanks for this vid!

  • It's kinda painful to watch the palette get destroyed like this :( But it's not practical so.

  • Or, you could just use a sharp knife or something with a very thin but strong point and pop them out like you do at the end. It took me less then 10 min to get all 16 shadows out and none of them broke!

  • I wish it could be so easy to depot all palettes like this. Thank u for sharing this

  • this would make my life sooo much easier but I just cannot bring myself to cut into my palette!! lol >.< I paid too much too destroy it..

  • OMG, I couldn't help wincing when you started bending the cardboard to sort of pop the shadows out enough to ease the knife underneath! I once tried the same thing with an obnoxious Tarte palette and ended up shattering most of the shadows. Great idea but I don't think I could ever attempt that again!!
