Gardening is a hobby of patience, sure you can go to the store and buy the already grown canna lilies, but why not take the time to grow your own plants from seeds? this video will show you how to collect those seeds from these beautiful plants that are sooo easy to grow almost anywhere. Enjoy.

  • hi i did break the canna lily seeds and the embryo and seeds separated... but the embryo is still in good condition... what should i do after that... is it still viable to grow the embryo without the seeds shell.. thks... i still have 5 left .. im scared if i nick it. everythg will break apart...i dont want to waste it again... thks...

  • @persie31 Oh im sorry to hear that! Well my intentions were not to have ppl break open the seeds...just simply scratch the hardcoat shell so it would help in germination. If yours cracked completely like the ones in my pix..then no they wont grow. You would need to get new ones. Sorry!

  • Could you explain what does it means by "dead head spent flowers"? Thank you.

  • @ccpyue hello, it means do not cut off the dead flower stalks because if you do then you would prevent seeds from forming. Thanks.

  • @menro1 that's wonderful! i have collected other types of cannas unfortunately they did not bear seeds.... their seed pods matured well n when i finally picked them they were empty! what a shame! i think i must have gotten a hybrid...only way to propagate now will be by dividing rhizomes...
