This interview was taped at Bell Labs in 1984, with brief intro by Max Mathews. Some of this footage may have made it into the documentary for which this was recorded but most of it has not been seen anywhere yet.

Apologies for not knowing the name of the interviewer, and for the abrupt ending. This is the ending of the video I have of it.

This is Part 2 of 2.

  • She's a Prophet.

  • theres a great cd of her works- obsolete systems- two on amazon only and for 16$ new- get it before it goes OOP and costs a fortune- which it will!

  • Laurie, you're such a star answering that dumb of an interviewer

  • This is priceless footage. The history of electronic music is often treated with too much academia or too much camp. Spiegel managed to void either fate by making electronic music that would never sound out of date. Quite an accomplishment.

  • Well, Mozart did something more interesting writing the dots on paper.

  • laurie you are a beautiful, intelligent and inspiring person. than you for the work you have done.

  • @DjosueD They do, you just never hear about them.

  • Boy this really is interesting. I wish people still though of music so purely and honestly.

  • i agree on your viewpoint regarding the use of computer to elevate musical potential.

  • i appreciate your clear speaking and your ideas. i am just getting into programming , learning c++ and ruby. one of the programs i want to create is music creation software like music mouse. i would pr0gram it to learn my style of music and have after i make enough songs in it, it will be able to generate music similar to my tastes.
