Sorry for taking so long to upload Part 2, I had a lot of stuff to do lately. Part 2 was filmed shortly after Part 1, it just needed to be edited and uploaded. Yes, I'm venturing into the world of video editing!. Anyways, enjoy and stay tuned for Part 3!

Unfortunately you can only rebuild the very old battery packs. All battery packs made in the last 10 years have a microcontroller inside that counts cycles, mAh in, out etc. Even if you replace the cells, the micro inside remembers that the cells are dead, so you won't gain anything in replacing the cells. If you have one pair of cells go completely dead, the micro even blows a 3-wire chemical fuse and writing a "dead" flag to it's flash memory, making repair of the pack impossible.

You can reset the microcontroller with special software and a hardware interface or by cycling the battery a couple of times (full discharge followed by full recharge). You are right about the non-resettable fuse, if that one blows you're SOL.

Tell that to people in industrial settings who need a laptop with a serial port to configure some multi-million dollar piece of machinery.

$25 batteries? You get what you pay for.

Those work with some devices but not with others since they don't generate true RS232 spec signals. When doing Serious Business stuff, nothing beats a real COM or LPT port.

No you can't. Stop promoting your piece of shit recycling business. Those are cheap quality batteries that break after a short while. I've been doing that for years and I think I've learned my lesson now. I've done it since pre T61 all the way to t530 --- various chinese brands.

What does the fuse look like? I bought some batteries overseas that now just 'buzz' instead of charge/discharge after only 2 weeks of use: this happened to two of them.

You can save yourself a lot of time having to rebuild an old battery when you can buy a brand new quality one for less than $30 these days. Google laptopbatteryone and get more information.

Yep. I tried with software and interface, but the packs i needed to rebuild have micro's with OTP memory, so once you have "enabled" the micro, you need to desolder them and mount a new one and flash parameters to them to make the battery work again. Wasn't worth it, so i skipped the idea :-/
