The Jimmy Doolittle Raiders had a reunion and reenactment of their training for the bombing attack on Tokyo. It was held at Luke Field, Eglin AFB, Florida. Seven of the 11 surviving members of that great raid were there. It was only the second time in 66 years that they had set foot on that tarmac. The first time was 1942 when America was desperate for some good news about the war. The Doolittle Raiders did more than just bring much needed good news about the war, they changed the course of it. I was proud to be a witness of this momentous event.
Those are machines of such brutal beauty, the sound of their engines brings tears to my eyes.
