Lyrics :
Thank you for the flowers you brought me today
And thank you for the kindness you showed me today
No love can be stronger than between two strong women
No man can ever know the dance between two women
We can dance... My lady... May I have this dance?

Thank you for the wisdom the knowing from inside
And thank you for the comfort that only a woman can provide
No love can be stronger than between two strong women
No man can ever know the dance between two women
We can dance... My lady... May I have this dance?

Thank you for the strength without a need for power
And thank you for the rhythm of the sacred circle
No love can be stronger than between two strong women
No man can ever know the dance between two women
Like you and I
We can dance... My lady... May I have this dance?
My lady... May I have this dance?

  • Jewel is not gay. She wrote this song when she was 16. I saw her sing it back then, she said this: "I grew up in a cabin with my dad and brothers, it was hard growing up without my mom around. Once a mean girl told me 'you smell like horses'. Then I met a girl who helped me learn about makeup, nail polish and girl stuff. I looked up to her, wrote this song about her, or any two women who love each other." It's not sexual, Jewel was clear about that. It's about friendship and missing her mom.

  • Jeje Jewel was right! --> No man can ever know the dance between two women

So, the song isn't absurd but you are, cause you can't understand it.

Great song Jewel, thank you for honored the love between two girls!

    Love ya!

  • Where do you find this song to buy!? I have a lot of Jewel music but can't find this song anywhere!

    Thanks for making the video.

  • @metalmike83 I don't believe that it is saying that men don't feel love, just that men and women experience emotions in two different ways due to biological differences in their hormones, and to love and care about someone whose emotions fluctuate in the same basic ways yours do is a very fulfilling experience. And for the record, not all lesbians hate men- I am one, and I simply don't think of men in a romantic way, but love them like brothers instead. Sorry for any incoherency, it's late.

  • @metalmike83 lol you sound really sexist yourself. You might want to reevaluate the song before jumping the gun on it being some sort of 'lesbian' way of saying, "men are incapable of the same emotions as women."

  • Even though I know it's not, I always think this song is about lesbians.

  • I have nothing against lesbians but this song is sexist - it states that men are incapable of the same emotions as women....I just find this attitute of some lesbians repulsive and childish. Carry on with the carpet munching as you please but don't assume that men are not capable of love - in fact in my experience men love stronger....the women I encounter daily at college are cold-hearted and psychopathic - especially towards eachother.

  • This song is amazing, I love her voice.

  • Well, if she was gay she would be totally hot! :) I really don't care, gay or not, I LOVE this song..

  • It's really simple....Jewel has always dared to cross lines and sing from the depths of her soul. It's about 2 women that truely care for each other...its not about bein gay...u ppl stop tryin to think so deep..sometimes things are just what they are..PERIOD

  • THANK YOU remase73 for your older song postings! I have seen Jewel perform live over 100 times, starting back in 1992 at the Inner Change in San Diego, when we went every single Thursday, Jewel's night. The first time I saw her perform, there were only about 5 people in the room, until we started spreading the word. Soon it was standing room only, and the rest is history. You brought back lots of memories!
