Koko demonstrates her ability to control her vocalizations and breath in two different situations. First, she demonstrates a "Blow-Test" as a welcome gesture during her meeting with Mister ("Fred") Rogers, vocalizing "who" after Penny and Mister Rogers do. Then, in a separate sequence, she demonstrates a "Blow-Out" — blowing out the candles on her 40th birthday cake. Such capacities in non-human great apes were previously thought by researchers to be very limited.

  • @RReederHunt The second cat Koko had was Smokey, who died at of natural old age, I believe. The kitten that got hit by the car was All Ball. So sad how Koko cries alone in her room when everyone is gone :(

  • I would be shitting myself if I was the man

  • @RReederHunt

The kitty was hit by a car.

  • @RReederHunt Why dose my brother say lies to me I like koko but he makes me feel scared of her sometime

  • @rabbitphobia Oh my gosh, nooooo. Not true. I think the kitten's name might have been Smokey, or at least it was a gray kitty. When Penny came and told Koko the sad news, there is a video clip where Penny is outside's Koko's sleeping area and there are sobbing/crying sounds. I can't remember if the kitten was hit by a car - but I think that's what happened. A library might have the old video tape about Koko's life, including the kitten.

  • @RReederHunt my older brother said Koko also killed her pet kitty is that true?

  • This is a video of a talking gorilla cradling Mr. Rogers.

    This deserves more views.

  • @mriguy35 So true! When one works with gorillas (and orangutans), there is absolutely no doubt that there is communication - even without the sign language that makes Koko so absolutely special.

  • @rabbitphobia That has not been Koko's behavior at any time. Gorillas and orangutans are actually peaceful and gentle. Don't confuse gorilla behavior with chimp behavior

  • @truvelocity heartwarming!!
