  • it must be extremely difficult to learn to apply those kicks in real combat!

  • Its all in the training methods to explain would take a to much time to explain. To you they are kicks to me they are extensions of postures?

  • Yeah lots of leg conditioning always working the basic's. We train for multiple opponent in combat. it takes time but your ability to use them gets better the more u work them. Find a Harimau teacher who will show you

  • they should put up a malaysian flag as well

  • We don't have any schools in Malaysia sorry

  • to the kick critics, these are more advanced, harimau has all the basic kicks like groin etc the same as other styles,in fact there are more groin kicks than any other style, having trained in most major styles I know this, theres several knee kicks as well, inside leg, outside leg, used alot for takedowns.they have perhaps the most sweeps as well, their locking is like jiu jitsu, aikido, and chin na plus-a superb system

  • ORIGINAL FROM SUMATERA

  • @Locardowns not if you know what you are doing

  • very good

  • Trained with Guru De Boards in the mid-eighties Tiger Style...remember the LOW stances, postures and the stepping drills OUCH! I'm a Kung Fu guy and total respect to all Silat. Also respect to Jak Othman. Different style but loved that too. Four steps is even lower than Hung Kuen/Gar stances LOL. Though my own style of Kung Fu is a soft style and cannot believe how much Silat ideas are sooooo similar! Keep smiling...

  • @limpato but a percentage malaysians are from minangkabau. so this is probably why they still have that 'sense of belonging'

  • @duarius Sorry to say it. This is our Minangkabau traditional martial art tradition in West Sumatera, Indonesia. We understand Malaysia have their own style of silat but this kind of silat is not from Malaysia. This martial art had been established since Minangkabau tribe exist. Since more than 1000 years ago Silek or silat is a part of nagari (kampong) defense system in Minangkabau, like a country with its army and military organization.

  • ayuh mari peljari ilmu Haq

  • @duarius

Silat harimau originally from West Sumatra, Indonesia.

  • @mmpsfw Well Mr. Smith I was looking forward to this weekend. We've met before at Tim Joes in Amarillo a couple years ago you've slammed me before lol.. Have a great day!
