  • Can't defend what he with the KKK... but he did say this before he died.

I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened. ”

    — Robert C. Byrd

  • Why did'nt he ever run for pres he would of been great

  • "yeah man"

  • I remember, at his funeral, everyone was asked to wear white. Hoods and sheets, that is.

  • I'd be incredibly embarrassed and ashamed to have a Senator who believes in such huge and unConsitutional Federal taxing and spending. "Delivering the goods??" It's just legalized theft and vote buying. And this from a guy who carried a pocket Constitution and was called the "Conscience of the Senate". PUHLEESE!

  • @flamegame33 Where is your information provided regarding Senator Byrd? He voted for Obama. Is that enough for you racists?

  • @OldHippie7320 Yeah, that road you use to get to work everyday, this "disgrace" paved it for you. That hospital you go to when your sick, thanks to Byrd. That school your children attend, thanks to Byrd. That bridge that links communities together so they can have a chance to prosper, thanks to Byrd. That big dam that keeps your home from being flooded yearly, yep thank this man for it. That scholarship that poor kid got, it's thanks to Byrd. He did more for WV than anyone ever.

  • @PoliticalJunkie2036 Thank you for your kind words. As anyone who is educated in the history of politics, I know that all the senators of his era were involved to some degree with the KKK. People who live in these modern times do not understand or are just ignorant of that fact. He sure did a bang-up, slap yo mama, super awesome job for the people that elected him. From the negatively placed comments on here, it is obvious that many of this age are ignorant of this man's accomplishments.

  • @RealBloppy He was an active member of the KKK for only 14 months as he realized the his values did not mesh with the KKK and then dropped out. He was a very young man at the time that had many obstacles in which he had to endure that you have no understanding about. He joined the KKK because he was told that would get him into politics. He apologized a thousand and one times for his mistake and did a damn, shall I say the best damn good job he could for longer than anybody.

  • @MicrowaveDisplaycom Ol' Big daddy sure did do a damn good job at fulfilling his job duties. Yeah Man! You are just jealous because your state hasn't had or doesn't have a super power influential senator like WV did in the great, late, and legendary Senator Robert C. Byrd, aka "Big Daddy"

  • @FGN123 Yeah and that is what he was elected for. To benefit the state that elected him. So what's your point. He did a remarkable job and delivered the goods till his dying day. There is only one Robert Byrd so I doubt your state will ever have such an asset as the late Senator.
