The Evolution of Final Fantasy [29] Tiamat

Part 29 in a series that takes a look at the history of one of the greatest gaming franchises of all time, chronicling the many recurring themes, characters and monsters that have appeared over the years. This entry focuses on the different incarnations of the snake/dragon foe, Tiamat. Enjoy!

Notes regarding this video (please read before commenting!):

- For the entire series, I have simply gathered video footage from various sources on YouTube and compiled them together. I've done this only to entertain the many fans of Final Fantasy here on YouTube, so with that said, many thanks to all the folks who took the time to record the game footage.

- Again, for the whole series, I've focused solely on the main games. Remakes and updates of those games are featured, but I've opted to skip games like Tactics, FFX-2 and such. I had to draw the line somewhere to keep a reasonable length.

@ChasoGod The only game in which Tiamat actually has a relation to Bahumut is VIII. For the rest of her appearances, Tiamat is either with the rest of her Fiend brethren or is simply a powerful boss. She does serve Chaos in I, but remember that the Chaos from Dissidia isn't the same Chaos from I, so how you arrived at Cosmos is unclear.

Tiamat is Bahamuts twin sister and rival. While Bahamut is good, Tiamat is evil, talk about sibling rivalry.

To put it in Final Fantasy terms. Bahamut is a follower of Cosmos and Tiamat is a follower od Chaos.

Not sure if this counts, but the DS version of 4 renamed "Dark Bahamut" as Tiamat, if I recall correctly.

FFXII Tiamat was my favorite boss battle in the game.

1: It was a dragon boss

2: It did very little damage

3: It had no obnoxious special attacks

And 4: the battle was epically long!

@VictorVonFox Na, Tiamat is probably more powerful then the first two or three Bahamut, but Fury, is way more powerful and badass.

if Bahamut is the king of dragons Tiamat would be there God....most of the time more powerful then Bahamut and to badass and to OP become a summoning monster. this monster is just really badass point blank
