@HistoryValkyrie You should look up a show called "Curiosity: I, Caveman" It was on the Discovery Channel a few weeks ago and the people on the show were able to kill an Elk with an Atlatl. It is very Lethal.

@HistoryValkyrie amazingly accurate when u have a flexiable dart..natives have brought down the biggest of game with atlatls.even by todays standards with guns..i have killed 3 white deer with flint tips.there like razor blades..atlatls are deadly man

@Tyrellion cheers great job kid..duck and goose fletchings work great and theres plenty of them
-
you need to use a longer dart of about 5 feet
-
o well thanx that i will try that
-
that is cool but tell me some thing i made oe out of a piece of wood witha nail i used a regular arrow from a bow but when i fired it it spun around in thair and not like it is supposed to it went like a head over heels thing could you make a video response and a how to video thanx
So, exactly how accurate was the atlatl and would you deem it a lethal weapon?

The dart was almost perfect (minus the lack of point), but the atlatl was rather lacking in accuracy. I could have made it a lot more flexible, for one, and better shaped. That would have given it more power, and thus, probably, more distance.
As to lethality, I'm sure it could kill as is, and any modifications mentioned above would make it even more deadly.

I would post a video, but I don't have the resources to make more at this time. If you search Youtube for atlatl, you should find a good video by Paleoaleo that should help.
As to why yours didn't work, I'm guessing it's because the arrow is too short and light with not enough flex for its length.
