There was no god to rescue them. No angels. The Korean government used the koreans'tax money - millions of dollars - to pay for the ransom, that included the money of Buddhists and Atheists. Itchy backside Korean missionaries went to places that they were forbidden to go and the pastor got beheaded. Their god does not exist.
