Went Salmon fishing in Albion, New York, in a tributary from Lake Ontario. I threw everything at them but the fly box itself. Nothing. I was introduced to a egg set-up called Skain. It was the only thing in 2 days of fishing that they would hit on. Hooked into 7 Salmon. Bit my line off 3 times, 3 came out of the water like dolphin and shook the hook free and one got within arms length and spit out the hook. Great fish. Great friends, Great trip.

That GP overwing is defo important. It represents the back of the shrimp, and the black tips are a strong representation of the eyes. It helps if the area that the tippet feather is tied in is built up a bit so that the tippet lies flat over the body.
This gives a more realistic profile to the fly, if indeed it matters. Summat to think about tho.

Is that fly effective for both atlantic and pacific salmon or just the one?
