@DigitalJediMaster Star Search started the trend. Puttin' on the Hits: the dumbest show ever created, people lipsyncing! Knight Rider & others in the 70's/80's reflected a simpler, easier time & a society that wasn't full of hatred & idiots. Yes, there was junk like "Hello Larry." I was referring to non-competitions shows: ent/variety. Today's society has A-D-D, no patience or ability to sit still to watch and enjoy tv. The "vision" from television has left the building!

@tvwarmup Since when has there ever been a talent show that wasn't a competition? Star Search and Puttin' On the Hits were competitions, and those were probably thew biggest shows of the era. There's good stuff on now, too. Just like there was crap on the air back then. [cough]Mama's Family[/cough] I mean, we all loved Knight Rider, but it wasn't exactly Shakespearean Sci Fi.

Know what this promo means? TV TRULY SUCKS TODAY.. CABLE AND BROADCAST, ESPECIALLY BROADCAST. GOD FORBID THERE'S A TALENT SHOW WITHOUT A COMPETITION ATTACHED, JUST A SHOW TO WATCH... OR A SITCOM THAT'S REALLY FUNNY AND CLEVER.

@MrFreshprince216 Yeah they struck gold with their pilots that year especially Cosby which helped turn around their struggling comedies and made Family Ties and Cheers into massive hits.

@Smartboy8877 1984 was the biggest year for them with Miami Vice, Cosby, Punky Brewster and Night Court it completely made NBC turn around and even become #1 by the 1985-86 season.
