Ron Crotty played double bass with Dave Brubeck on his early albums, he is still playing great today, I wish the sound were better but I think more people should hear him.
He plays at the Oakland Museum in the afternoons each day they are open with different duo partners.

  • I was fortunate enough to play a little with Ron when I was a teen and he was in Synanon cleaning up, so to speak. It was the first time I realized that an upright bass could be such a beautiful-sounding instrument--it never grabbed me on record, but sitting two feet away I was overwhelmed by his touch, his tone and his talent.

  • frank has one of the smoothest, melodious sounds a bone player could ever hope for. nice work you guys - i aspire to your heights ;-)
