A montage of the magnificent cathedrals and sublime churches spread across the Indian Subcontinent from the rustic slopes of the Himalayas to the sun-kissed shores of the Malabar. The antiquity of church architecture in India goes back to the first millennium A.D. which was mostly oriental in character. The ornate monumentality of European church architecture was introduced in the fifteenth century when the Portuguese colonised parts of the Malabar coast.
