The reason is on his website:
"Q: WHY DON'T YOU SELL ON ITUNES?
A: apple's iTunes service takes a ridiculous cut from artists and offers a service that does not actually benefit the artist. they do not offer a way for the customer to contact the artist, they generally offer a single format to the customer, and they do not give the artist complete and instant control over all of the work hosted on their service."
He then goes on to explain why he uses Bandcamp.

@omgukilledkenny611 Actually, Renard once said that it was just a terrible joke on his part. "Kitsune" on the tendency of nerdy internet users to be otakus (or, less politely, weeaboos) and the "^2" comes from the terrible joke part: a pun on square waves that feature prominently in his music.
