This is my arrangement of the classic Jerry Reed tune based off the original soundtrack recording from the movie Smokey and the Bandit that featured Bobby Thompson on banjo.

Like the original this arrangement features two banjos in harmony but it can just as easily be played as a solo piece. On the slow section the two banjos are hard panned left and right so you can use your balance control to isolate one banjo or the other. The lead banjo is in the left channel and the harmony is in the right. Both banjos are in standard G tuning.

Tab for both banjo parts is available through http://www.seanray.com

  • Can't stop watching this! Hadn't heard the tune before seeing it. I've got a couple vids that are similar, but I'd love to know what kind of recording equipment you use. Great job.

  • @AcousticFingerstyle7 Thanks, I use Final Cut for video and Logic for audio.

  • Incredible display of picking!! What kind of software do you use for all that PIP stuff?

    Awesome video!

  • @Mandolin1944 Thanks, I use Final Cut Studio for editing.

  • wow - B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L -- so well done!!!

  • Love this!

  • Dude! This is an amazing video. I just inherited what I believe to be a 70's Ibanez Artist banjo today. I keep getting these old Ibanezes. :) I sold the Musician bass though and bought a jazz. Next up, sitar!

  • Thanks, This is a great video.

  • absolutely brilliant! love it!

  • ah, that's excellent. I was sat there wondering whether to type you a message asking if each banjo could be uploaded seperately, but found that shifting the balance of speakers on the volume did this. Thanks in advance, now I can concentrate on one part at a time. :)

  • But why do they only show yer hands and not your face on TV? jjk

Pretty stuff! Thanks for this, I always loved this song.

  • purdy!
