@churd243 its all about gearing son. the cat loader at my work is rated at 180 hp, 430 lb ft of torque, weighs 38,000 pounds, yet can do 30 mph with a 10,000 lb load on its forks.

what a junker (westy)
-
@WowMike2002 good comparison, a civic is way less than a tone
-
@churd243 Umm, that is the range at 2000-2500 rpms, if you tried fixing one of your little honda civic engines to move this vehicle, it wouldn't even be able to turn the axle's even if you dumped the clutch at WOT.

@churd243 they are 50 year old trucks. it was alot of power then.

@churd243 Sure... but I doubt anything that uses one would win a tug-of-war! :)
Between $1,200 and $4,000 at a military surplus auction, depending on condition. Try to get one with a winch, as the winch itself is indispensable for serious off-road use, and nearly indestructable. Just Google DRMO (Defense Reutilization Management Organization) for their website and look for auction listings.
FYI: 465ci inline-six Hercules or Continental multifuel turbodiesel; 134hp/330lb-ft torque. Uses a Spicer or Fuller five-speed transmission, and divorced Rockwell transfer case.
