Jimmy Wales, the cofounder of Wikipedia, and Nancy Lublin, the CEO of DoSomething -- both of whom were named Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum -- discuss strategies for growth. Topics include the philosophical and practical reasons behind Wikipedias creation; how it and other social media have changed the way we think about communication, education, business, culture and society; and how easy-to-access, inclusive and reliable social media platforms can be used to effectively.
The 2009 Social Enterprise Conference took place on October 9 at Columbia Business School. The conference shed light on the entire process for social ventures — from vision to specific practices — and addressed how organizations can gain momentum and strength during the global economic downturn.
