This song is about solidarity of the proliteriate, something that has faded from the 1950s onwards I love this song but I am saddened as the words are hollow in this day and age.

@apollobouncer See that is the nationalistic bullshit that keep the people divided. English, Scottish, Irish. Its just words. Nations are a result of human upbringing. You call yourself scottish because you were brought up to be so. Division makes us weak. I would have a unified GLOBAL uprising. Agreed, the murmurings of revolution must start somewhere, but thinking that the scottish left is in anyway superior is proof you do not understand the fundemental concepts of socialism.

@apollobouncer We should stop fighting to divide ourselves and bring about a new BRITISH REPUBLIC. With even representation of all the nations within it, a new age of cooperation without our squabbling and in fighting. Westminster, Holyrood, all the politicians should dismount from their high horses and join the PEOPLE whose lives they dictate. We are all HUMAN. Race/nationality/religion is all meaningless unless we seek to be better than others, which is a lie. Everyone is equal.
