The power button is used to power the computer ON and OFF.

USB Ports are used for plug and play devices such as web cams, mp3 players, flash drives and more. You can locate them on the back or the fronts of the tower.

The DVD or CD Drive, also known as the optical drive allows us to play or to burn a CD and install software.

The Hard Drive is like your closet. It’s the place where you store and save things but if you don’t clean up every once in a while, it can become cluttered leaving you with less room to store information.

OPERATING SYSTEMS

So, here’s the complicated definition: an operating system is a software program that creates an interface so the users are able to interact with the system’s hardware.

Simply put, you need an operating system for your computer to work!

There are three main types of operating systems that people use:

Windows—The Windows operating system is developed by Microsoft and remains the most popular of the operating systems.

Macintosh—The Macintosh operating system is developed by Apple for their Macintosh computers.

LINUX—Linux started out as a college student hobby and has grown into a very competitive and growing operating system. So, what makes it so popular? It’s both a free and open source software. All of these operating systems have pros and cons! So, wondering what’s right for you, well, it’s all about personal preference!

WHAT IS THE INTERNET?

You likely use the Internet for browsing the Web, sending email, or playing online games. But, have you ever wondered what the Internet actually is? The Internet is essentially a vast number of different computers and networks around the world.

SEARCH ENGINE VS. BROWSER

 Hey, this is Scott, from Google, we are here in Time Square, new York, to find out “What is a browser?”

2.I call it the ‘search engine’, that’s what I call it, a the ‘browser’…

3.“What is a browser?” Hmmmmm…..

Today,many internet technologies allow people to easily share and add to information posted by others.They are known collectively as social media.A post ranging from status updates to comments to video uploads,account for more than a billion pieces of content created each day,making social media the second most popular form of communication on the Internet behind only e-mail.But unlike email, social media posts are broadcast to a community (send me what's missing)

Essentially, social media incorporates the online technology and methods to which people can share content, personal opinions, swap different perspectives and insights into world issues and generally discuss the evolution of media itself. Social media web site content can come in many shapes and forms: TEXT is often used to put across opinions or write blog posts.

IMAGES and photos can display anything from holiday photos to shots by professional photographers.

AUDIO—Social media lets you create pod casts for users to download.

VIDEO—Video sites mean that you‘ll be able to record a video of your child birthday for friends all over the world to see.

The most popular sites for social media websites are huge at the moment. A few examples of these social media websites are social networking. Web sites’ll allow you to create a personal profile about yourself, then chat, discuss and share information with others such as friends and family.
