Bernie Dehler interviews Russell Kelly and George W. Green. Why is the doctrine of "Christian Tithing" so wrong? What is the best argument from tithe teachers, and why is it wrong? Are those against "Christian Tithing" just simply being stingy? For more info about why "Christian Tithing" is unbiblical and counter to Christian stewardship ideas, please visit their websites:

  • Meggy said: "Abraham gave to Melchisidek who is a type of Christ!" Yes, that is in the NT Bible book called "Hebrews." The point of the passage is that the Melchizedek priesthood is superior to the Levitical priesthood- that's all it has to do with tithing! (Not much...)

  • If you have money, God may want you to give more than 10%, or give time instead of money, etc. Ask God, but you also need Scriptural understanding to guide you. When a preacher teaches you something you might suspect is wrong, read the Scripture in context and see if the preacher is twisting it, and see what others have to say about the verse.

  • Hi TrueFaithAlone,

If we want to tithe like Abraham, I guess we'd have to enter a war like he did?

  • However, Abraham gave to Melchisidek who is a type of Christ! Who had no begining and no end,

So it would be wrong to compare him to the Pagan Canaanites all around. What to make of that, I don't know. I am not inlclined to tithe anyway, but rather to give as the Lord leads and I don't let the left hand know what the right hand is doing. Sometimes way over 20%

I am usually blessed when I give but I don't care to give to buildings, pastoral salaries, etc.

  • yes, thank you. I am being free from this bondage although I still feel guilty for not tithing. I take out a tenth and call it a "gift". But I want to be totally free so pray for me please thanks.

  • :) If we were to imitate Abraham, yes :)

  • Another observation is that Abraham gave nothing of his own; he was returning with the spoils of war. He also was not given a command to tithe. We Christians have truly had the wool pulled over our eyes... God bless you once more for putting these videos up!
