Why are people so sure that's really Mary he's talking to? I think that the Mary in bed is simply another projection of James' subconscious, and the scene symbolizes how he has finally forgiven himself and is thus free to leave(or commit suicide) Silent Hill. Mary's words seem to be exactly what James himself wants to hear, and the game is entirely from James perspective. Since when did Silent Hill ever bring back a spirit from the dead? Its kinda like the scene with Cobb's wife in Inception.

to me is the best ending because at the end, James repents for his sins and Mary forgive him and tells him to go on on his life, in fact, if we see the scene where the letter is read by mary we can see Laura and James so that means that he fulfilled Mary's wish to adopt laura and to continue his life

You still haven't answered me. When is suicide ever a good ending? Considering Mary wanted him to go on with his life. I post regularly on a Silent Hill fan forum, the consesus is that the in water ending is the WORST ending..and a poll revealed over 90%(195 people) felt sorry for James while 15 people didn't like him.

@refuckulate420 wtf? Are you trolling me? When James came in to Sillent hill he didnt remember what he did and was sure that Mary died few years earlier. Sorry but you played SH2 without sound and subtitles.

No, James knew what he did and went through SH because of the guilt he was feeling for what he did. I mean we can assume, Mary was in his trunk. In water is NOT a good ending, it never will be. Suicide is never a good ending, I doubt Mary would've wanted him to kill himself. Sorry but you are completely wrong.
