  • Nice video! Another great Poka track broken down. The only Poka sample I'm desperate to find right now is StarCrash. It's a simple sample and if I did the least bit of research I'm sure I could find it, but, meh. I guess I'm not that desperate.

Gah! I was gonna do TITTS. Oh well. (also, I was gonna do Take Me Ce Soir, too, and you beat me to it. *shakes fist in a frustrated manner*)

    Oh well. Good breakdowns ;D

  • Haha, sorry. :p I didn't do too good of a job with the Sedat breakdown actually. My copy of 'Life's A Party' skips a bit in the middle of the loop. Not terribly noticeable but it's there. And I actually missed a bit in the Buffalo Bunch sample I think. Ah well.

StarCrash sounds like some classic rock. Toto, Yes, Stevie Nicks, something like that. But I don't know for sure.

  • Very good :)

You are bringing the latest funky house club cuts to my ears. I didn't knew these tracks (apart from 'TITTS'). Always good to hear something new. :)

  • Myspace, man. It's how I discovered Poka and Silver Disco along with the whole Galaxie Comete crew.

  • ahahah you ALMOST got it ! the second loop isnt from that part ( hint : there are many versions of stomp :P )

  • I'm guessing you used the 12" version (6 minutes long or so). I was using the LP version.

  • @visual1122 It sure is. You have to get clearance. Used to be you could do it after release, now many labels require it BEFORE use. Don't think it's a piece of cake to walk through it either, and the artist has nothing to do with the decision. It's whoever owns the recording. Sometimes they might be reasonable, but there's been some real discouragement of sampling by major labels in the last 5-10 years.

  • @DJevilstereo i think i can hekp you with that.

the sample in star crash (i know!!! its really cool, ive been in your position too, lookin for that damn beautiful sample) is "kayleigh" by marillion.

if ou like that sample you should check out all their songs!

  • @marikun: The sample for StarCrash is Marillon - Kaleigh.

  • great! :)

  • Lol, yeah, I figured it out eventually. Did a video on it a few months ago. ;D

  • starcrash is Marillion - Kayleigh

its the guitar solo about half through or so

  • You can certainly hear the Rod Templeton sound in Stomp. If there was no Rod Templeton, Michael Jackson would be a lesser person!

  • Now that I listen to it, I can hear what sounds like some female (or just high) vocals in the guitar loop.

  • Yeah, it sounds to me like some 80's glam rock guitar lick. You can hear some synth in the sample, which screams 80's to me.

Its the track that inspired Power Glove actually. :D (well, partially, anyway)

I thought you did good with the breakdowns. Sounded pretty accurate to me.
