@TheWhiskeyRover: Indeed, Slim had a -big- voice, and, (unlike most great singers), he kept his full power and great range, up though & including the last year of his almost 89 years. But I'm not sure what you mean by "not using a mic". There's no "back row" to project to, no loud band to overcome; all Slim had to do was get his voice on the recording. Obviously, that required a mic :-)
