That's the Reflections (of "Just Like Romeo and Juliet" fame) who handed him the hat and cloak.

Fellas, quit with the racial shit, please. Nobody in here wants it. If you gotta spew that stuff...go to a different house where you'll be welcomed. There are plenty of YouTube places where you can insult the hell out of each other..for hours. This room is for music lovers, so if you can't just kick back and enjoy the music....beat it.

I'm a weird mix. I'm white, 58, and besides the Beatles and most of the British Invasion bands of the early and mid sixties (which I have always been into heavily) my next favorite performer is Major Lance...of all people!! How strange a combination is that?? And to Mr. Rick Toye, as soon as I heard this, I just KNEW it had to be a Curtis Mayfied-penned song. And can't you just see Major Lance belting this out and dancing his smoothe-as-silk-moves as he's doing so?? God, this stuff is so great.

I smiled and clapped all the way through this song. Had forgot all about it until I was scrolling through YouTube and thought the title sounded familiar. Bingo! A gem from my childhood! I loved it then and love it now.

One of Gene Chandler's often overlooked songs is a real 'gem' that was a regional hit in the midwest in 1962, 'When You Left Me." The Chicago stations played it all the time and it was huge and it is one of the most memorable songs from my youth in Chicago that brings back such great memories of that time, the girls and the wonderful times we had.

Have not hear this one in a long time. I also saw Gene Chandler in person in 1964 and 1965. He was so cool and a great performer. In his era there were so many great soul singers but he is memorable, especially from my years in Chicago.
