You're totally wrong about Steve. He was not heartless, and his "authoritarian" view of technology was based on a desire to change the world -- which he accomplished. He did NOT ask for ridiculous amount of money for his products. In fact, when John Sculley tried to increase the price of the original Macintosh from $1,995 to $2,495 to cover marketing costs, Steve fought him tooth and nail. Steve wanted it to be priced as affordably as possible.

I love the Apple that Steve created, but you are wrong. The reason the price was set to $1,995 instead of $2,495 was to actually increase the profit of the product. More sold products equals more profit...
