Spent a weekend in the Amalfi Coast of Italy. Picked up a BMW at the Rome airport and drove about 3 1/2 hours south to Sorrento passing Naples along the way. Sorrento was my base, then drove south to legendary Positano and then Amalfi. National Geographic includes the Amalfi Coast in World's 50 greatest drives and it certainly was. Blue skies, warm temperatures and stunning scenery. One tip though, weekends are busy and it may be better to schedule your drive mid week. Enjoy!

  • I was there late September, good highway from Rome all the way down to Sorrento then a gorgeous coastal drive. Try to avoid the weekends as it does get busy, but other than that didn't have a problem. Road is narrow there are big tour buses so stay focused on whats around you or what's coming up behind you. Parking is a problem in some areas, you will have the time of your life, take time to stop and admire the superb views.

  • @Shazzys100 Bela colocação, "FABULOSO".

  • What month did you go? We are going in September and will rent a car to drive from Rome Airport to Positano where we are staying for a week. Did you find the drive on Amalfi Coast hair-raising like other traverlers have stated?

  • Breathtaking scenery - fabulous !
