She was 61 singing here, She died at the age of 81 from a heart attack. Apparently she worked up close to her death, even tho she used a wheelchair had to take oxygen in between songs!
They just don't make them like this anymore!!

Hi Kaly94,
Really glad you enjoyed this . She's 62 here , and still in good voice . The original 60's version is fully digitalised on CD now , though !! Gareth .

melinda doolittle's version is by far better than this original. it's just like how witney houston's version of i will always love you surpassed dolly's original.

Witney Houston surpassed Dolly Partons amazingly tender and sensitive original ???? Melinda Doolittle surpassed the great Peggy Lee ??? Oh my goodness !!! Well , I guess it's good that we don't all sharte the same "taste ".

Well it may not be just my opinion but you see, the record and the media have a tendency to make the copycat versions more popular than the original. Just like the drift away song by uncle kraker and dobie gray. I never knew dobie gray had sang the original a long time ago. So perhaps many of our opinions are based on airplay and popularity.

LOL!! No worries ...everone has different tastes . With this clip , though , Peggy Lee is in her 60's , so this isn't really the "original" ...which was much more firey . The original was a huge hit back in 1963 .
