The original Recordable DVD introduced to the marketplace was DVD dash R followed by its rival DVD plus R. DVD dash R media was originally designed for recording video whereas DVD plus R was developed for recording data. The key differences will be each formats playback compatibility, or the percentage of DVD equipment capable of reading each disc. Numerous studies have shown DVD dash R media to have the highest compatibility for recording and playing video. Most drives today will record and play either format but you should know your drive's compatibility prior to purchasing discs.

  • Why is he putting the DVD UPSIDE DOWN?

  • @MrAlan994 It's not upside down. It's a silver top disc.

  • @1981jilly ..................what? Copying data, audio, and video is definitely legal in the US. Now if you're copying content that is not yours, then that's another story, but it's still legal to backup any movies or music that you own.
