@leshager Listen vacuum brain: Paul Potts is a talent it can never change, no matter how many years pass. Performances live forever.

@nejacne68 He sang it for himself. If you've had a down-trodden life, lacked self-confidence and had a particular gift that few people knew about (he never sang in front of his co-workers), this is the perfect platform. Hit or miss, it would define his life forever. It was a hit...

what makes him the best at it
is that he was singing for his audience not for the judges.
he want it a chance to let that musical force to be release from his chest to the world of reality.

Oh, sorry, I didn't answer the initial question...Paul Potts' version is sung in Italian...
-
The song, "You Raise Me Up," was written by Rolf Lovland from Norway (originally as an instrumental piece), and the lyrics are by Brendan Graham from Ireland...It's based on a traditional Irish tune, and it's been recorded over 125 times...

At 4:30, it sounded like Paul was singing "You Raise Me Up", but in a different language. Anyone know what language it is? Thanks!

Dear Paul, you aced it, and forget what the critics say..... If you don't believe me, just read some of the reviews Andrea Bocelli gets. Bravo !!!

Paul saves BGT!!!

He makes me cry too... Incredible...
Exquisite. Insightful. Poignant.
An all around brilliant production.

say what u want to say, but I never have heard of anyone walking off the street singing opera that well...ever. Everyone wants to bring up Paverotti, which is like comparing Babe Ruth to someone who is good enough to be a professional baseball player..and furthermore, lets see Paul in 15yrs of seasoning and see how much he progresses.
