This was in 1994. Fast forward to 2013 where you have the Patriot Act, gun bans, executive branch in local, state, and Federal governments passing laws which is the perview of the legislative branch. To quote Phil, "come on."

An interviewers job is trying to confront the guests, aggrevate and attack their opininons. Thats whats creates debate. The guests answers generally very good.

You should watch some of the interviews of Phil Donahue to get his own opinions. He is a very intelligent man.
