Yalla

A performance of my Intermediate bellydance class at a Community Centre in New West. Choreography is by Michelle Etienne, our teacher. The camera distorts the sound to the picture so it looks ...well... weird (and off-time), but what can you do (besides get a new camera, hmmm?)

After a couple years of reading an awful lot of hateful comments about this video, I've taken away the comments thingamajig... I accept criticism openly, I just couldn't believe the amount of racism, ignorance and blind hate I read... I do not want my video's little comment section to be a vessel for others to spread their hate and poison. We are not the world of the past, we are not the world of the future, we are right now . Normally, I'd say nothing and just take away the commenty thingy, But right now I write this for anyone who watches(ed) the video and would have left something racist or or equally nasty in hopes that they might consider even for a split second the glimmer of potential internal peace that is right there for them if they want it. Right now, you can drop your negativity and just not think that way anymore if you choose to. Turn it off whenever it creeps in and say I don't want to think these things so I'm not going to. Underneath culture, flesh, clothes, even individual experiences for better or worse, we are all the same on the inside... I'm going to go finish my cup of coffee now... delicious
