Our Man in Havana (1959 ) Tropicana Scene - Ernie Kovacs

Kovacs was of Hungarian background but looks Cuban as Capt Segura. Our Man in Havana was shot in Cuba 2 months after Fidel Castro came to power but the story is set in pre revolutionary times. Read the book TROPICANA NIGHTS by Ofelia Fox, widow of former Tropicana owner Martin Fox it is a facinating read.

Maureen O'Hara is one of the most beautiful women in the world!

This film was done in Havana in 1959, after the Revolution. In fact, Fidel Castro sent flowers to this young American Girl's hotel during the filming of this Movie, but she declined his invitation. She was 19.

@AdrianaMonancilloMen Esta película es como todas las películas de Hollywood exagera. Sí hubo la prostitución legal en Cuba antes de 1959, pero nada más o menos que uno podría encontrar en cualquier otro país. Cuba se desarrolló más en 1959 de la mayor parte de América Latina es hoy.

I haven't seen the rest of the movie, but that was definitely shot in the Tropicana. I'm surprised. Hollywood had the habit of creating these horrible fictitious poverty-stricken images of Cuba shot--in other countries---that totally distort the reality of what Cuba was. The Tropicana was the best nightclub in the world. It's choreographer, Rodney, was considered one of the most talented in the world and he helped create world-class performances that were later imitated by Las Vegas shows.

Alec Guinnes, passing by Kovacs' open hotel room, observed several naked women lounging around. Guinnes inquired,"Ernie,shouldn't you close this door?" Kovacs replied,'Well Alec, if I close the door, people will talk, but if I leave it open they will see that it's all perfectly innocent." Kovacs had hired the women as a practical joke.

es increible que los castro, ese par de sinverguenzas, hayan destruido un pais que estaba entre los tres mas prosperos del mundo. antes todos iban a cuba , hoy todos se quieren ir de cuba.En 50 anos de dictadura feroz Cuba hoy esta destruida y su gente devastada con el unico anhelo de escapar de la carcel natural de los castro que representan las costas de la isla, ...

budfr. a esos personajes de terror , los tiranosaurios de la dictadura castristas te los puedes comer con papas tu solito porque la inmensa mayoria del pueblo , que son los pobres, lo que quieren es que se desaparezcan de la faz de la tierra.. a ver si podemos reconstruir a nuestra amada tierra para que vuelva a ser lo que fue en los anos 30..
