WATCH VIDEO IN HIGH QUALITY!!! Last week of the 1977 season, the Colts had to win to make the playoffs. The Patriots were eliminated earlier in the day by the Dolphins win over the Bills. The Colts were actually helped by a loss the week before to the Lions. It prevented a three way tie from occuring in the final standings which would have given the Patriots the division title. Instead, the Patriots had nothing to play for but pride. That was almost enough, but Bert Jones generated an incredible comeback.

This is the game that has the questionable non-fumble call towards the end of the game.

Of note, there were 4 and half minutes left when that fumble occured, there was no guarentee the Patriots would have run out the clock when there offense was shut down the entire second half.

I would love to see the broadcast footage of this game again.

Note: Retired players, please contact your union about making available for purchase ($20-$30) the original broadcasts of games from this era. The revenue from the sales of the games from your era could be used for your pensions and medical issues.

  • goes to show how savvy the modern day nfl marketing machine is. you'll never see a modern day game in any city without the majority of the fans in the stands wearing some type of nfl merchandise.

  • @BatmanFan1966 4 o'clock game. Wasn't on TV in the New York area so I remember listening to it on Baltimore radio which came in a lot better once the sun went down.

  • Was this a night game, or was it just a really dark, dreary late afternoon?

  • Fred Silva is still on my poop list.

  • I get teary eyed just like Bill Curry ....outdoor insane asylum

  • Looks like the spitting image of Elway. Right down to the #7 on his back.
