Usain Bolt prepares for the Olympic Trials. Last month, the Jamaican sprinter broke the world 100 meter record, more or less on a whim, as he ran the distance to sidestep his coach's request to run the 400 meters as training. Experts consider 100 meters ill-suited for taller athletes because of the premium placed on exiting the blocks quickly. At 6'5'' tall and rising, Bolt holds the fastest times on the year in both events. [Usain Bolt, 100 Meter Record Holder]: "Yes in my mind I think I can do it. The 100 to me is not that hard but the rounds may be different..... I'm waiting for my coach to see how I handle the rounds after the trials. I'm really looking forward to it and waiting for the decision." Bolt will run both races at the Jamaican trials in Kingston, and will leave the tough decision about Beijing with Glen Mills, his coach.
And in Euro 2008, today's match with Germany and Turkey you don't want to miss. Germany is in fit and in form, while the world has witnessed Turkey pulling off some miracles to reach the final-four. But, publicly, coach Fatih Terim does not want the term miracle being used.
[Fatih Terim, Turkey's Coach]:
"I have been a coach for many years. I have never seen luck be so very important in football, ever. And you keep wanting me to say something on this. "

Turkey is without four players that are suspended and their captain who is injured.
[Fatih Terim, Turkey's Coach]:
"Of course, football is important if you play it well, you do well. And, if you play it well you get good results but nothing is a miracle. As I said before, I don't believe in miracles."
Mind you, Turkey beat Switzerland in the last minute, scored three times in the final 15 minutes to beat the Czech's and leveled against Croatia with the last kick of the quarterfinal, winning a penalty shootout.

  • Its wrong to demean the achievement of athletes by pointing to their race. Being born with a greater proportion of fast twitch fibres gives you a greater potential to sprint but it still takes a life dedicated to training to fulfill that potential. Even Usain with his laid back attitude wouldn't be a top class athlete without working hard. Also just because someone doesn't have the typical characteristics expected doesn't mean they can't succeed at something. They say tall guys cant be sprinters

  • U can tell the sportscaster got his check already...he doesn't give a fugggg

  • @PantherFistSnakeArm everytime people bring up genes, race, height, and stuff i always point to lionel messi. usually that's enough for people to realize that they are just lazy shits that's why they will never accomplish anything those guys have.

  • Wait. Isn't this the guy from ScaryMovie 2/3?

  • @PantherFistSnakeArm agreed. these fucking idiots have to realize that there are thousands of people who have usain's physical advantage, but there is only one champion.

  • Is he reading a story to a kindergarten class or doing a news report? His voice is so sarcastic..

  • The trainer of him must be amazing cause Yohan Blake runs a 19.26 now too :)
