  • Thanks again for putting these '97 vids up. This was the season where supposed 'GT' cars stared becoming full-on prototypes and first led me to love sportscar racing.

  • Great! I have missed these clips so much and now there is again change to see these great legendary cars racing! SPecialitely the GTR McLarens!

If you have more, example Helsinki GT race videos 1997, please upload them!

I'm sure there is many more of fans waiting these clips coming at Youtube!

  • these were great GT1 cars. make the rules similar and the 1st GT1 car to be approved is the 918 RSR. then go from there.....

  • I guess technically, these aren't all that different from the closed cockpit prototypes you see from Peugeot, Aston Martin, and Mazda these days, but it's just not the same as these GT1 monsters. I don't think anybody would be disappointed if this class made a comeback.

  • I miss these cars, thanks for posting this. For me these GT1's are 2nd only to the legendary Group c racers.

  • Thanks for posting this, 97 was a truly remarkable year for GT racing, perhaps its zenith. Some of the cynical programs (like the Porsche and Mercedes cars) were kinda against the spirit of the competiton, and put off true road cars, like the F50, from entering. But this was still the year with the most awsome cars on the track at one time. *Would really love to see more of the races appear, especialy Laguna Seca ;)

  • @DC322

The CLR lifted off the track in 1999. The CLK-LM was doing pretty well at Le Mans till they had to retire. Their M119 V8s were not as reliable as Mercedes had hoped. The CLK-LM would then dominate the 1998 FIA-GT championship winning all 10 races in the calender.

  • I miss this track so much! I didn't know they had GT races there!

  • y cant GT1 be like this now.....llol anyways still love that elise gt1. great vid tho

  • it was the CLR

  • The CLK-LM went up in the air twice during the 24 Hours of LeMans. One on the warmup and one during the race.
