  • Aussie bam bam, you were well ahead of your time and were probably the first person ever to have a mohawk in Australia. Six years after this film the English punk scene would start adopting the mohawk haircut. Chalk one up for the Aussies.

  • Im the guy with the Mohawk at 2:17, aged 16.A Frankston Sharp at the time, later that year a Melbourne Sharp. It was an amazing concert. It was called Summer Jam because the last band of the night was to be a compilation of various members from all of the concerts bands, on stage together in a massive jam session. Thats what drew over 1000 Sharpies from the suburbs of Melbourne to the one event, to be there when 2 of our Rock Icons Lobby Loyde and Billy Thorpe jammed together on stage.

  • its a pity the sydney sharpies havent been as well documented as the melbourne sharpies it was just as big up here and i know it started about the mid 60s in sydney till about 77

  • @ijohnno Probobly living it up on harleys .now.

  • Some US paratroopers cut their hair into mohawks just prior to the invasion of Normandy in 1944.

  • what was the music playing

  • @StinkyKnobcheese I went to school in 'The Pines' estate - Monterey High 1974 & 1975, lived in the estate for a few months in '74. You're right about the honour code, I've always hated bullies and they deserve to cop some of their own treatment - i'm glad those Sharps took care of it for you.

  • @AussieBamBam Damn! Were you in the pines? My mum sent me down the local fish and chip shop to get dinner. I was running along the shopping strip and this kid about 13 tripped me up and dinner got squashed. There were 3 sharpies hanging around around the shops and they gave the kid a bit of a hiding for picking on a little kid. They had a certain sense of honour.

  • splendid video mate!

  • Yes, true, and if you go back even further, the native indians had mohawks too.

  • I've seen pics of greasers/hell's angels in the 50's and 60's with mohawks. US & UK. Sorry.
