  • Hello, do you usually use "mic gain" when using the recorder? I am not satisfied with my recordings. I usually record public performances or speeches but the quality is not what I am happy with. What can I do to make best performance out of it will you suggest? Also, what sound quality do you choose to record, mp3 or wave? Thanks a lot!

  • @ckwcheung sorry for not replying. as pointed out .. the recording level was set high. [did i mention that in the notes?] anyhow .. i prefered MP3 at full Q . i think its 320kb. ive since sold the edirol and bought a Yamaha CX pocketrax. its not bad .. and in a sale .. but i think the edirol had the edge.

  • Nice minidiscs at the beginning!

The R09HR is a great recorder, but the internal mikes are not that good.. a great setup would be a pair of mikes thru a n R09HR. Plenty of good recordings!

  • i was quite pleased using minidisks .. but unless you have one of those sony units its a job to get the data off the disks .. unlike the new mp3 format which stops all that time copying.

about the mics .. one that was recomended cost as much as the recorder .. but then as long as the recorder can handle the Quality .. buying a better mic is no problem.

  • your homebrew recording sounds so much better than the internal mics...was thinking of getting an edirol for field recordings but was very disappointed with what I heard here from the recorder. What external mics did you use because that recording sounded fantastic.

  • my home brew amp and mics are not bad but lack in top end in comparison. vocals are better with the edirol mics. the mics used are just condenser inserts from maplins. the cable is short as possible and the inserts are outside of the housings to prevent unwanted acoustics.

  • The overall recorded sound is has too loud noise.

  • these are about the cheapest mics u can buy. sometimes it doesnt always work out to spend a lot of money. not just for microphones. i guess i was lucky. there is some overload though. its my preamp. it needs calibrating.

  • This really sounds good with headphones on.
