I got my hands on both the Flip UltraHD and the Kodak Zi8 (thanks to both companies) and spent some time with each device. This video is a quick overview of both as well as side-by-side video comparison. The full review can be found at: http://www.hightechdad.com/2009/09/30/the-portable-hd-video-recorder-smackdow...

  • can kodak take a picture?

  • @zihbant Yes, that is one of features built into the Kodak. The Flip (at least this version) didn't have that capability in the camera.

  • Can u take still pictures with the flip

  • @AnaMariaLovesYou Not really. You can take stills via the FlipShare but not directly with the camera.

  • @HighT3chDad what is the flip share?

  • @AnaMariaLovesYou It's their software that comes with the Flip that allows you to share movies and manage your videos. Remember though, Cisco shut down Flip...

  • Thanks. I just got a Kodak for my birthday and am not real tech savy. Thought I'd look on here before I opened the manual and glad I did. I mainly wanted one for my sons RnR gigs. I also recieved an external Sony mic and plan on trying it all out this weekend. To anyone wanting to see the Kodak in a loud dark bar room type atmosphere I'll upload early next week. Thanks again I'll go check out your blog. :)

  • My Kodak just fell out of my gokart going 30 and it survived. Get it now.

  • What are you using to record?

  • i prefer KODAK ZI8

  • @nickJeen i own one and yes it does have zoom :)

  • @pcfix411 It does have a hole for a tripod. Check again.

  • It looks like the Kodak is better overall, but I does not have the hole to mount on a tripod. The flip video quality appeared better.

  • get kodak, the flip camera quality degrades after a while AND YOUR MINUTES start to fall for no reason. i went from 2 hours to 1 hour 30min and i cant get back the lost 30min
