This dance was the opening performance at the Spring 2009 "World Tour" show for N2 Dance. All of the haumana (students) participated in this beautiful blend of two diverse dance forms, mostly Auana or modern style Hula with a dash of Hawaiian hiphop flavor. The richness of Kumu Hula Mark Ke'ali'i Ho'omalu's chanting adds yet another taste of Kahiko or ancient Hula to the mix. Linus, who has Smith-Magenis syndrome can be seen 31 seconds into the video. His brother Arlo, can be seen at 1:15 and is at age 13, the oldest boy in the troupe. Actually, they will be hard to find, if you do not know who or where they are in the formation, because they blend so well with the troupe. Their handsome, smiling, Dad Robert is seen at 3:12 in the audience shot.

  • i love this dance!! whats the name of the song or mix?

  • @dancerguy2090 Aloha! The mix is part hiphop and part ancient Hawaiian chanting by internationally famous Mark Keli'i Ho'omalu who is best known for his work on Disney productions "Lilo and Stitch". The chanting part is from his album "Call it what you Like" song is "Keli'i Milimili." The hiphop portion is a locally produced group that wrote and performed this song for the Kumus (teachers) of this unique Hawaiian language Hiphop Halau (Dance School.) Kumus mixed the two! Great fusion!
