Richie Kotzen and Stevie Salas performing Shapes of Things sometime back in 2003.

This song was originally by Jeff Beck & The Yardbirds, but it was also covered by Gary Moore, who made it even more popular. Richie Kotzen also performs this particular song on most of his setlists.

This is one of the rare occasions where you can see Richie Kotzen playing bass... pretty darn decently, if I might add.

Stevie Salas tells you a nice little story of how they got together and did this gig.

Enjoy!

  • This is awesome!! I have all of Richie's albums and two of Stevie Salas's from many years ago. I always love seeing a world-class shred guitarist playing bass and just supporting the song with a solid, in-the-pocket bass line. Does Richie play drums too? Now I need to see if Stevie has any new CDs out. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the comment! Yes, Richie plays guitar, bass, drums and keyboard. Although, he describes himself as 'musically inclined, excells at guitar'.

  • very cool video. thx so much for sharing. i love the music.

  • No problem. My pleasure! Thank you for commenting.

  • If this was recorded at a guitar show in London I was there. Brilliant!

  • @bsbthiaguin um..you made a new meaning of the word "ugly", thank you.

anyway Richie is funky this time.

  • Not sure where the idea came from that Gary Moore made Shapes "even more popular" than Jeff Beck and the Yardbirds. Maybe in the mind of somebody who was born 20-30 years after the Yardbirds did the song, but not in reality.

  • These are two TOTAL pros. I've seen them both live . They are both totally killer!

  • Give me more finger vibrato. ;-)

  • Why is richie on bass??? he is one of the best guitarists ever, and he is definateky better than this guy...

  • Stevie one of the most exciting and best guitarists I ever seen
