Definition of good music - on-pitch sound developing an emotional response from the listener through speed, resonance, lyrical meaning, tactful emergence of one instrument over another, and the passion of the musician in connecting with the desired meaning of a song. Just because you "like" a song does not make it good. You can "like" your 6 yr olds violin playing but that doesn't make it good, quality music. Great music makes you forget about the world around. ie Sigur Ros and Mumford and Sons.

@CascadeTheWarrior You need to sharpen your reading skills. I specifically stated "objectiv", meaning that when dissregarding oppinions there is music that is better than other music. And I stated why this is true. Since your comment didnt even try to counter any of the point I brought up, I see no point in shifting the subject further away. @ikillgophers Obviously new music is targeted at a younger audience because they are the new generation. Older generations are so afraid of change, do you actually think they would target that audience? The only thing that poisons the mind is ignorance a.k.a what you are preaching in your comment. Every music dies eventually but there are some that will always be remembered and guess what?...They are mostly mainstream music,so get over your hate towards mainstream music its here to stay. @N3CR1S No!!!!, there is no such thing as "good music" because everyone has different tastes. Why can't you people grasp that? Is it really that hard to understand? I could be banging pots and pans to make a tune and that can be the best music I ever heard! keyword: "I", meaning MY opinion, no one else's. Not everyone as the sames tastes, what you call crap a person can consider gold and vice-versa.

@CascadeTheWarrior Ofcourse there are objective "good", and "crappy", music. There are an infinit number of ways to string notes togheter, most are really bad and some are better than most. There are many possible ways to let the song build up and fade out, and some songs do that in a more thought out way that is more fitting with the individual parts of the song than other song do.

Ofcourse there are good music, but does not mean that some people wont like crappy music.

@CascadeTheWarrior your statements are false, there is eminent proof that most mainstream music is targeted at children or young teenage peoples. these peoples are easily seduced and manipulated. music, food, style, and everything else around them poisons their minds. check the definition of music while you are at it. all mainstream music dies eventually through the decades, rap is now non existent and R&B will soon follow. but instrumental will live on forever.. goodbye.

@ikillgophers First of all I never said this was mainstream music, Secondly that's the thing there is no such thing as "good" music as I explained in my previous comment. Music is an acquired taste, meaning everyone likes different things, so don't go around bashing other artists just because you don't like their music or are mad they are selling better than your preferred artist.Thirdly just because you bash another artist it won't make your preferred artist any better.
