Are you getting used to high-definition broadcasts? If not, you may skip HD and make the quantum leap to ultra-HD. Once your eyes become well adjusted to the quality of ultra-HD, you may not be able to get back to simple HD images and sound. NHK, NTT and NTT Communications have jointly experimented with video transmission in ultra-high definition. Ultra-HD resolution displays 16 times the number of pixels than standard HD. They carry the amount of visual and audio information equivalent to about 24Gbps. It consists of super-high-reality video and sound technology that also supports a 22.2-channel 3D acoustic system. In the demonstration conducted by NHK, NTT and NTT Communications, 4,320-by-7,680-pixel live broadcast was down-converted and shown in both 1,080-by-1,920 pixels and 2160 by 3840 pixels. They are aiming to speed up research for ultra-HD signal compression in order to disseminate ultra-HD programming to home via optical fiber by the year 2025.

  • thus we will have problems with a reverse motion sickness!

  • hmm i like experimenting with 24000x16000 pixel XCF imaged using my 8gb of ram so considering this we would need a computer capable of a few teraflops just to be used as a realtime encoder. and why is japan the one thinking of such high resolution brodcasts when they tend to have the smallest apartments (in other words, most Japanese homes only have 13.3-33inch screens so if we upgraded those small screens then the human eye would have no way of distinguishing if its real of not)

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGG!!! 2025!!!!! I want an SD card with 900TB!! NOOOOW
