Kate Grisdale is a fourth year student in the History Option of the Arts and Contemporary Studies program at Ryerson.
Kate also is the winner of the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies (CASIS) Weller Memorial Essay Prize. This award presents this national award for the best undergraduate and graduate essays in intelligence, national security, defence, or law enforcement written by students at universities or by Canadians studying abroad. In this highly competitive contest, a panel of professors from across the country selected Ms Grisdale's paper 'The Radicalization of the Dutch Polity and its History: A Cautionary Tale for Canada?' as the winning undergraduate entry. Kate Grisdale is the first Ryerson student to win the prize.

About TEDx, x = independently organized
event:
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local,
self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like
experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine
to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local,
self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently
organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for
the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.*
