  • Hey, thanks for all the positive feedback (not you, Vash). As for the specific style, we're by no means professionals and just kind of pick up moves on the dancefloor to throw in. The basics of this one were East Coast and Charleston, as I learned them.

Also, the dancefloor was a little smaller than I'm used to...

  • what song is that?

  • That is "Swing Set" by Jurassic 5

  • I guess defelice33 and gahvno don't know the difference either, no biggie (see the video I mentioned on vashCORP's page).

I'll break this video down. The first two seconds start off with a 6-count ECS basic (single-step vs. triple-step). More ECS basics from 6-7 seconds, 27-28, 36-39, side-by-side charleston breaks it up, ECS basics from 1:07-1:10, charleston tandem, more ECS basics at the 2-minute mark etc. So, veggieboy321 is right; this IS 6-count East Coast Swing with Charleston in it.

  • I'm curious if vashCORP even dances or if he just watches dancing, based on his profile. You can see one of his favorite videos, "Lindy Focus-Tim and Sarah-Level 4 Class 7." You'll see a distinct difference between that 8-count Lindy Hop (LH) and Ryan's 6-count East Coast Swing (ECS). Not once was there a basic lindy swing out in Ryan's video, because it *is* ECS with Charleston usage.

Bugguy905, this is just single-step ECS vs. the triple-step ECS you're used to; it's the same dance.

  • for the most part this is standard 6-count east coast swing with some side-by-side and front-to-back charleston thrown in. i like the big finish. thanks for the post.

  • Uhh....these are pretty standard ESC (Jitterbug) moves. I don't see why a few people keep calling it Lindy. There are lots of variations, and these two have the coolest style I've seen by far.

  • This is not East Coast Swing, it's more like Lindy. Good luck to them!

  • I see some Charleston in there... a little bit of it is East Coast swing, the rest I don't know what they are but it looked really good and that's all that mattered. And it's awesome how he used his height to his advantage to make the dance look even cooler.

    5 stars

  • Sorry, but Vash is right. This is a Lindy variant... looks like fun and all, but not East Coast Swing :)
