3G iPhone Ad vs Real World: A performance comparison

Apple's "Unslow" 3G iPhone commercial pretends to demonstrated the performance of the device over the 3G network. To put it to the test, I took my own 3G iPhone to the heart of AT&T's coverage area in MA (Boylston St. in Boston just across the street from Apple's flagship store).

The video shows a side by side performance comparison running through an identical set of actions.

The results tell the story.

I'll bite and again say that the reason why performance of the iPhone 3G is slow is the device not the network. Even where network performance is optimal, performance is unaffected (see my other videos). The OS 3.0 software dramatically improves performance. The iPhone 3GS improves performance even more. None of these gains are related to network improvements. The unrecognizable performance in the ads is bogus. Apple corrected the situation by adding a 'sequence shortened' tag to the ads.

Uhm my 3G is never that slow and yeah it must be your network or your disk space... lol

@MrsBunnies1990 one its just iphone 4. its not running on the 4g network because att doesnt have one yet.

Second the screen is the same size but with 4x as many pixels.

third the price is the same as most android phones on the market. 199 isnt that much for a phone like this.

You have a point, the iPhone 4g will have some nice upgrades, the only thing dissapointing is that the screen is smaller.

A lot of people Reading this comment don't have the cash to afford Apples latest iPhone, it's just going to be so pricey
