Estate

The contemporary world jazz ensemble SIORA gives an interesting rhythmic treatment to the jazz standard, "Estate". Phyllis Chapell, who sings in up to 12 languages, performs the piece with its original Italian lyrics. Chapell has been included in the new book "The Jazz Singers: The Ultimate Guide" (the top 500 jazz singers of all time) by Scott Yanow (writer for Downbeat, Jazz Times and All Music Guide). I first saw this video on MiND TV a couple of weeks ago. First time I heard of Phyllis Chapell or Siora. Fantastic rendition of Estate. Love Phyllis Chapell's melodic voice - simply beautiful. Ralph Bowen on the sopranino sax (or was it a soprano sax) was Awesome! The entire group is tight!
