  • This is a great post.... I'm a huge fan of both Roy N and Roy B.....

  • @keithalan10 The first time I heard Roy was his Second Album, so naturally that's my favorite. Amazing. I thought I had already heard all the greats. It was like discovering plutonium:>) I like Loading Zone alot too. Maybe because Stanley Clarke plays bass on it as well. I was lucky to see Roy twice, meet him briefly once and drank a Heini with the band. I have my list of favorites but Roy is in my top 5. My favorite is Jeff Beck and he says Roy is the best. Go figure.

  • @keithalan10 Hideous tragedy was losing him!

  • @fltrbvr I started listining to roy in 72, he has always been my favorite too. I think his best album was his 4th on polydor, I forget the name of it, it"s not available on cd so my wife found an old album and had a cd made...she's awesome...another good one is called Buch and the Snake Strechers..it is old (60s) bar recordings...later

  • @keithalan10 Roy is the shit. He's my favorite bluz guitarist. I think Livestock is his best album.

  • @fltrbvr You are confusing bored with coked up...roy was the shit

  • Roy looked boored, but I wasnt there for the show. I love Merle but I bet Roy felt like a stand in.

  • is roy playing thru the offset marshall amp? not a country rig by any means

  • @heymama1 Thanks for the info. I happen to live in Nashville, so I get to see those plank spankers on a regular basis. I saw Roy Buchanan years ago (I didn't know who he was, I was just out and about one night and walked into this small club and caught the last 20 minutes of his set. The entire audience was mesmerized.

  • @heymama1 I believe that spank the plank was a reference to the sound the old school country pickers got from a telecaster. It was a combination of speed, Hammer-on and pull-offs and a few other things. Some of them used finger pics . Anyway, once those guys start pickin you just start to grinnin! you just can't help it. Or as The Lovin Spoonfull put it "Well there's 1352 guitar players in Nashville and they can pick more notes than the number of ants on a Tennessee ant hill" :-)
